Saving the World’s Film Heritage: Now or Never

Much of the world’s film heritage remains unpreserved, with collections in parts of Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East particularly exposed by fragile materials, limited archival capacity, aging facilities and disappearing technical knowledge. Losing these works would mean erasing part of our shared memory and denying future generations access to the images through which societies understood and imagined themselves. This session asks how we can unite around an urgent global effort rooted in local expertise to identify, preserve and make endangered collections accessible.
